ASBESTOS SURVEYS

We conduct two types of asbestos surveys:

ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT SURVEY

Asbestos management surveys carried out by DC Asbestos are the standard survey. The purpose of an Asbestos management survey is to locate, as far as reasonably and practically possible, the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) in the location which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and to assess their condition.

A management survey is required for all commercial and non-domestic properties (i.e. Common areas, stairs, corridors, stores within flats etc). All surveys are conducted in a professional manner in accordance with Health & Safety Guidelines. The survey is based only on surface level sampling and can be used as reference towards light maintenance.

Sampling, Analysis & Reporting

The survey will usually involve sampling and analysis to confirm the presence or absence of asbestos containing materials (ACM’s). Samples are analysed and a comprehensive report is then produced detailing the location, condition, material assessment and recommendations for remediation for asbestos materials identified, this includes photographic records and digital plans.

REFURBISHMENT & DEMOLITION ASBESTOS SURVEY

This type of survey should be carried out prior to any refurbishment or demolition works. It is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably and practically possible, all asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) within the areas surveyed. This type of survey should normally only be conducted in unoccupied settings or areas.

We can arrange for a management survey to be conducted within the majority of the building, with specified areas targeted where only part of a building is to be refurbished.

When major refurbishment within the building or a total demolition of the structure is to be undertaken, then a totally intrusive inspection using more aggressive and destructive techniques is adopted. Ceilings, walls, and floors are internally inspected and samples of suspicious Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) are taken for laboratory analysis.
